Introduction to role:
Are you ready to lead and innovate in the realm of corporate affairs? As the Director of Corporate Affairs for Ireland, you'll lead central initiatives for Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease. . You'll be an integral member of the Ireland Leadership Team and the EUCAN Corporate Affairs team, reporting directly to the VP, Rare Disease Global Corporate Affairs, with an indirect report to the General Manager UK and Ireland. This crucial role involves developing and completing globally and regionally aligned local external policy engagement as well as communications to enhance our corporate reputation and deliver on Alexions key priorities  Dive into a dynamic environment where your leadership will shape the future of rare disease treatment in Ireland!

Accountabilities:
• Develop annual corporate affairs strategy, incorporating government affairs and communication strategy, and implement them in collaboration with the UK and Ireland leadership and cross-functional team.
• Align local objectives for corporate reputation, disease awareness, and product communications with global strategies and local plans.
• Contribute to and develop clear policy shaping goals and government affairs strategies aimed at delivering a favorable business environment and improving patient access.
• Work with the Country and Site leadership team to ensure that we are crafting a favorable ecosystem in Ireland given our Site/footprint in Ireland.
• Coordinate national and local media relations and train local spokespeople to engage with media.
• Monitor and manage issues that could impact Alexion success or company reputation in Ireland.
• Integrate corporate affairs efforts with cross-functional teams such as Commercial/Marketing, Patient Advocacy, Market Access, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure strategic, consistent, and effective communications on key topics/issues/initiatives.
• Collaborate with the EUCAN Corporate Affairs teams to support initiatives (e.g., related to significant achievements) and implement broader corporate communications initiatives at the local level.
• Work with the Vice President General Manager, UK and Ireland, and local teams, as well as the Global Culture & Internal Communications teams, to inform employees and support engagement.
• Collaborate with Governments, politicians, payers, trade associations, think tanks, and other collaborators on policy issues.
• Conduct briefings, meetings, forums, and technical updates for legislators and regulators and their staffs on issues of concern to Alexion.
• Respond to public consultations on behalf of the business to articulate policy positions.
• Build coalitions of support with third-party organizations to deliver multi-stakeholder public affairs campaigns.
• Identify, contract, lead/manage/oversee agencies engaged to support corporate affairs activities in Ireland.
• Manage in-country corporate affairs budget and team.
• Be a great teammate and contribute to different department projects when required.

Essential Skills/Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in in-house and/or agency corporate affairs, government relations or communications in a health care setting.
• Strong and broad background in public affairs in the bio/pharmaceutical industry.
• Robust media relations experience.
• Experience in content for digital and social media.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven track record of working successfully with both executives and subject matter experts.
• Familiarity with the local media and policy landscape, as well as connections with collaborators in the UK national and regional areas.
• Robust working experience in international and intercultural settings.
• Fluency in English

Desirable Skills/Experience:
• Experience leading Corporate Affairs for an affiliate of a larger health care company.
• Experience working within a European Corporate Affairs team.
